Intro to Big Wall Climbing
We are excited to be partnering with The Climbing School and have Szu-Ting Yi join us to teach this special four-day (4) course in Index!
Learning Outcomes: We'll learn all the skills we need to know to climb entry Big Walls like The Nose of El Cap. Skills include:

Appropriate gear selection

Aid leading with trad gear and bolts

Discussion of aid ratings

Pendulums
-
Fixing a line
-
Ascending a fixed line
-
Following an aid pitch (passing gear, lower outs)

Big wall transitions
-
Hauling and docking a haul bag

Rappelling with a haul bag
-
Assessing pitons and other fixed gear

Setting up a port-a-ledge
-
Setting up a comfortable bivy
-
Route finding and topos

Prerequisites

You have taken Introduction to Trad AND Introduction to Multi-Pitch Courses at COC or another provider
or
-
have experience leading trad multi pitch climbs at a grade of 5.8 or higher.

This is a FOUR (4) day course, running 8/16-19 (Fri-Mon), 8am - 5pm each day.
