Queer Mountaineers x Climbers of Color Collabs.

Who are the Queer Mountaineers?
The Queer Mountaineers are a Seattle based organization with three goals.

To provide community, events, resources, and a safe space for outdoor enthusiasts of all backgrounds, genders, and sexualities.

To provide access to skills, gear, technical training, affordable-access courses, discounts, and other resources that will help improve accessibility.

To train future leaders in the outdoors industry. To provide our volunteers & participants with an accessible path to training and following their goals. To diversify the outdoors industry.

What is this collaboration?

Climbers of Color will provide field courses that are not only meet ups and affinity spaces, but practical leadership classrooms from professional instructors from the Climbers of Color instructor team. Many of the courses being subsidized to a high degree to lower the barrier of entry.

This courses will be a shared space for the BIPOC community and the LGBTQIA+ community for their BIPOC members and white community members.

"In life, one should aim to be both the teacher and the student."

Our organizations are coming together to do just that—to learn from the needs and asks of our communities and from one another. To grow, together.

When are these courses?

These courses will be:

Where are these courses?

You can sign up for them in our courses menu!

Why is this important?

This is a time of growing division and increasing attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights as much as on racial justice and diversity programs across the country. Our communities share not only our organizational missions but the challenges we face are similarly many. Climbers of Color does not make the decision to break prior tradition of being by POCs for POCs lightly.

The word allyship has taken new meaning for us in recent times.

It is more than labels, it is more than sharing a sport, it is more than proximity.

We have to take risk for one another.

We have to show up for one another.

How can I help?

You can join up if you are a POC or LGBTQIA+ and learn climbing and practical leadership from our diverse instructor team.

You can donate to us to help fund scholarships and our organizations continued operations!
