Intro to Trad // 2021

Welcome to the wonderful world of traditional climbing! This is the art of placing your own gear for protection to clip your rope into on climbs. This class is for those who are already leading sport routes. Our trad climbing course will include gear overview, setting gear, anchors, and rope management. This class will consist of one quarter day for Ground School in Seattle and the next full day will be held outside at a local Seattle area crag.
Application:  OPEN (open to trans- and cis- women only)
Dates:  
  • June 18-19 (Fri 5pm-9pm, Sat 8am-2pm)

  • Sept 17-18, (Fri 5pm-9pm, Sat 8am-2pm)

Location: TBD (most likely Exit 38 or 32 off I-90)
Tuition:  $180 - 220 (sliding scale, scholarships available)
Prerequisites: 
  • Taken Introduction to Sport Leading from COC
  • Actively rappels on routes
OR
  • Taken Introduction to Sport Leading from COC
  • Taken Rappelling, Ascending, and Fixed Line class from COC
OR
  • Properly uses a belay device for lead belaying
  • Actively rappels on routes
  • Comfortable clipping quickdraws one handed (either hand preferable)
